This is the year for “Self”. The time to acknowledge our strengths and flaws, our peaks and valleys, our past and future. The time to learn to unconditionally love and accept ourselves for who we are rather not who we are trying to be. Our first retreat experience, centres around self-healing and explores methods and tools to help let go of any negative energies that are still tethered to our past and preventing us from moving into our true light.

We believe that there is such a need to bring attention to the topic of self-compassion as a whole because it is an essential tool that we need in order to grow and manifest our passion and purpose, especially in the chaos and commotion of today’s daily life. The Consciously Connected brand is thrilled to announce our second retreat in collaboration with holistic activist Gabriela Gutierrez, to provide a safe space for the modern woman to completely unveil her soul, discover the raw beauty and power from within, and learn how to practice self-compassion to cultivate spiritual growth and well being.

It’s almost easier to show kindness and love to others than to ourselves. In our list of priorities, more often than not we don’t even appear in it. We don’t take centre stage in our own life story. Our glass runs empty, yet we invest in ensuring that others overflow. We are taking care of everyone and everything and fail to give ourselves even the smallest time and care. We fail to even realise or acknowledge that we can often judge ourselves harshly, often be self-demeaning.

Self-Compassion is relating to the self with kindness. Words of affirmation, self-compassion rituals, allowing yourself to just be, not compromising on your happiness, not beating yourself up for any shortcomings, not imposing unrealistic levels of expectation and pressure, embracing your imperfections in whichever form they manifest. The application of Self-Compassion is scientifically proven to improve overall wellness and wellbeing, greater social connectedness, emotional intelligence, and overall life satisfaction. Self-compassion has also been shown to correlate with less anxiety, depression, shame, and fear of failure.

Set in the serene coastal town of Essaouira, each retreat will be in collaboration with a leading health and wellness expert from across the globe focusing on a theme of “self”. Our second retreat is in collaboration with Gabriela Gutierrez. For 7 nights and 8 days, you can expect to discover the captivating sleepy surfer charm of Essaouira while rediscovering yourself. With a variety of interactive cultural and wellness experiences like crafting with local artisans, mindful cooking classes, an array of water sports, self-love workshops, self-love ritual practices, deep meditations and breathwork, sound baths, yoga and so much more.

This retreat is limited to 14 guests and exclusively intended to reconnect you back to your inner divine female, to recalibrate your energetic vibrations and empower you to find purpose and passion in all aspects of life. Teaching you how to unlock the tools that already reside within you and equipping you with the techniques and rituals to start understanding who you are, what makes you happy and ascertain your individual self-love practices that can be applied in your everyday life.


The sumptuous Villa Anouk will play host to our monthly retreats. Set on 2 hectares, this Beldi farmhouse with its sumptuous rugs to intricate carvings and an ambience that permeates and ensures a luxurious sense of relaxation, with a customary old-world undertone, will support in creating the most harmonious space for maximum healing.

Set on 2 hectares, guests will be accommodated based on 2 sharing in a luxury private room, with private bathroom. Daily housekeeping/maid service.

The property has a large indoor/outdoor pool, in-room massages can be organised. Expansive outdoor space, several al-fresco areas, teamed with reading room.

Chef Summer Thomas

Trained at the NYC ICE culinary institute and working globally as a Private Chef, Summer teams her Iraqi heritage, her western upbringing and being well travelled as the inspiration behind her culinary creations. With a well-crafted menu that enhances the self-healing experience, guests can expect to have an incredible culinary experience throughout their stay.

With a private chef onsite to prepare our daily meals, all dietary needs can be accommodated. A seasonal daily menu will be created using the freshest local produce and large elements of farm to table dining. A mindful menu has been created by chef Summer to enhance the self-healing process.



To understand yourself first is the greatest tool to begin self-compassion. Then to understand and develop daily rituals and practices that reflect self-compassion is the greatest gift you can give to yourself. Our daily workshops each headed by our practitioners will support in addressing a key areas and topics surrounding self-compassion and provide you with the tools, techniques and individual rituals to successfully begin your self-compassion journey. We encourage journaling throughout our workshops to allow you to monitor your growth.

Sunrise Walks

Start your morning with a spectacular sunrise as you walk on the beach and soak in the first light stretching over an endless sea. Essaouira has some of the best beaches in Morocco and there’s no better way to reconnect to yourself than by connecting with nature.


Whether it’s a morning flow to get the blood going and mind calm or a yin practice to wind down the evening, yoga is one of the most effective and nurturing ways we can show love to ourselves. By reconnecting with our breath and aligning the body, mind, and spirit as one we become more aware and more open to new opportunities.

Soak in some vitamin D while giving your core the workout of a lifetime. We provide SUP boards and lessons for any first timers wanting to get out on the glassy water and enjoy an afternoon of exploration.

Discover Essaouira

There’s no better way to relax than strolling through the sleepy streets of Essaouira. This laid back beach getaway feels like you’re walking through the set of a romantic movie. Take your time shopping around the medina where you can meet with local artisans and craftsmen. Here you won’t find any hassling or heckling, just friendly people who enjoy doing what they love.

Mindful cooking classes

Completely immerse your senses in a mindful cooking class. Get a taste for the flavours of Morocco while learning about the richness of this country’s culture, diversity, and magic.

Discover Marrakech: Sometimes we must venture into the chaos of the outside in order to observe the calm from within. What better way than to explore a day of bustling souks and busy streets in the Red City of Marrakech, with shopping that will make all your vintage dreams come to life and food that will set you into sensory overload this is an experience that is just as essential to understanding our self worth as a deep meditation.

Optional Activities: Surfing

Essaouira is arguably one of the top surfing spots in Morocco. Not to mention one of the most ideal places in the world to learn how, if you’re just getting started. The neighbouring islands of Mogador make for the best swell sifter while graciously giving us the greatest waves. Live like a local and fulfill your endless summer dream in this surfers’ paradise.

Horseback Riding

Camels not your thing? Live out your own Hollywood ending by riding off into the sunset on horseback. Or at least we can let you try and we’ll snap amazing photos of you and your inner Moroccan goddess.

It’s one of those times where you look around and keep telling yourself, “Someone pinch me, this isn’t real.” Well call us your personal pinchers because we are bringing you the opportunity to live out your Moroccan fantasy humps and all!

The nearest airport to the property is Essaouira airport, approx 20 minutes. We will provide complementary return airport transfers to all guests flying into Essaouira airport and guests flying into Marrakech airport. All those flying into Casablanca airport, we are able to organise your transfers.

Marrakech and Casablanca airports are just over 2 hours away from Essaouira but serve more international flights, especially those coming in from USA, UAE, and further afield. We will organise airport transfers for those flying into these airports for ease and comfort. The drive is truly picturesque and a perfect intro to your Moroccan adventure.
